Writing text for businesses involves more than just putting pen to paper – or fingers to keys!
I provide words and text for both business and non-business people who either don’t have the time to write the information themselves or just can’t find the right words to say what they want.
No two jobs are ever the same. Different people have different requirements, and information comes to me in many different forms.
Much of the information I receive comes via email, some by telephone, (leaving me to decipher my own notes!) some from face to face meetings. I have even written from a brief scrawled on the back of a beer mat!
1 The writing I provide falls into two categories:
A Copy Editing
Copy editing is re-writing an existing draft, checking for consistency, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and ambiguities. Copy editing costs £8 per 100 words.
B Copywriting
Copywriting text and website content involves research. It is creating a piece of writing about a product, service or subject from little or no existing information. Copywriting costs £15 per 100 words.
2 Services Summary
Whatever you need written, I can help. I have provided text, in various forms, for a huge variety of people and businesses. Please see my services summary below.
As every job is different, it is impossible to keep to a specific price guide.
Each job is priced on its own merit, dependent on how much work is involved.
Content written from scratch that needs researching will cost more than content that needs editing or updating.
If you would like a quote for work, please contact me to discuss your requirement.
3 Web site Content
The content of your website is of paramount importance. It is what informs about your product or service, advises how to buy or obtain what you have, and keeps a reader reading.
To keep a reader interested, website content needs to flow, making it easy and comfortable to read.
Text written according to speech patterns interrupts the reader’s flow, forcing them to break off to re-examine what they have just read and detracting from the message you want to convey.
4 Brochures, Leaflets and Flyers
Many people find it easier to take in information they have read, over information they have heard.
We all lead busy lives and not everyone has the time to stop and listen.
Brochures, leaflets and flyers can be handed out, and will get your message across simply, accurately and succinctly.
• A brochure is a booklet of pages containing information about your product or service
• A leaflet is a shorter, more concise version of a brochure, typically A4 in size, and either double fold or tri-fold
• A flyer is a single or double sided page, usually A4 or A5 in size.
Information tends to be précised in bullet points or short sentences
Brochures, leaflets and flyers are an ideal way of telling people about your business, advertising products and services or promoting an event such as a special offer, an opening or a sale.
Whether your business is just starting out, is long established or could do with a boost, a brochure, leaflet or flyer will allow you to stay in touch with customers, introduce you to new and potential customers, or just remind them you are there.
5 Newsletters
Newsletters are an excellent way of advising, promoting or informing. Whether you are a business owner, run a club or are just exuberant about life, newsletters keep you in touch with clients, potential customers and those who need to know.
Newsletters can be ready for posting, or can be formatted into an e-flyer, and emailed to a customer base or client list.
6 Letters and Reports
When someone is struggling to find the words to write a letter or a report, it can be so frustrating. “I know what to say, just not how to say it!”
Tell me what you want to say, and I will write it for you, promptly and accurately and in complete confidentiality.
7 CVs
As if writing about your business were not difficult enough – can you write about yourself?
Most people do not find it easy to write about their attributes, sing their own praises and generally aim to impress.
With a basic outline of who you are, what you have done and what you want to do, I’ll even impress you with who you are!
8 Advertisements
With advertising, it is vital to get your point across quickly, accurately and as concisely as possible.
Whether it is for a magazine, local paper or the internet, I can put your words in the right places to help you get the results you want.
